Children don’t need screens or schedules to fill their days. Give them a creek, a handful of clay, stories around a fire and a natural world waiting to be discovered, and something remarkable begins to happen.
In Kids Lodge, children aged 5 to 12 spend their days immersed in nature, creativity and adventure. While parents are enjoying their own Earth Lodge experience, children are making friends, exploring new skills and developing a deep connection with nature through play, imagination and exploration.
Older children take on more: archery, a drum Journey to find their power animal, longer days and a bit more responsibility within the group. Younger ones are looked after just as closely, with quiet corners and cushions close by for anyone who needs a slower moment. It’s not unusual for parents to come home from their own sessions to find their kids talking in a new language, staffs of power, medicine names, animals from their dreams, that wasn’t there the week before.
Every child is also offered the opportunity to take part in a Rite of Passage suited to their age, marking a real transition as they step into their next stage of growth.
“My time at Earth Lodge has been very, very fun; lovely friends, delicious food.” – Ruthie, Dreaming Snake, age 10
Earth Lodge Location
Earth Lodge is an intergenerational experience. While the Kids Lodge provides programmed activities during adult teaching sessions (morning and afternoon), mealtimes are family time and in the evenings, the whole village gathers around the campfire for songs and stories, ensuring that children feel like an integral part of our community.
Children under 5 are welcome into the Kids Lodge activities under the supervision of their parent or care taker. Kids Lodge provides an opportunity for parents of very young children to explore their relationship with their child with different eyes and to approach the Earth Lodge themes through their children’s perspective.
